Women make a splash on Social Media platforms

Several companies are now looking at India’s evolving social media scene with relish and for good reason! This is mainly because more and more women are taking to social media like ducks to water, thereby opening up a flood of advertising and marketing opportunities for products and services across several categories and industries. In fact, women are the new and biggest target group on social media for companies and have outstripped men in terms of average time investment on social media and level of participation. Women are steadily ruling the social media space in the country and this is good news for advertisers. Facebook has witnessed an increase in the number of female users in India to the tune of 77% on an average. This offers an insight into the rising domination of women on social media networks and platforms.

Women mostly use social networking on a mainstream basis along with search and messaging. Women have steadily been shifting to social media platforms from emails. Middle aged and young women are mostly found on social media at various times. In spite of busy schedules and social and family commitments, they are always found to be active and engaged. Facebook gets the biggest chunk of time and energy from women who are interested in conversations centered around a community and cause. Localized social media content and interactive advertising are seen to be the best ways to tap into the psyche of women in metropolitan cities and areas. Women are interested in travel and product pages while non metropolitan users are mostly interested in matrimonial pages more than their metro counterparts.

Women are now household decision makers and this presents a golden opportunity for companies in the FMCG sector, household product companies and even products like cars and houses. Women make up the core of online customers who are attracted to products. Going by present trends, women will soon surpass men on social media. Advertising agencies like Rego Advertising regard this change as historic and dynamic at the same time and specialize in coming up with cutting edge marketing and advertising solutions accordingly.
